At Merryweather, we’re making estate planning law better for everyone by focusing on what really matters: you.
We created Merryweather because we wanted to create a law firm that provided exceptional estate planning and tax advice while also being approachable, transparent, and helpful.
Because let’s be honest: when you need legal support, you need things to be simple. You need someone who knows what’s going on and can explain your situation to you clearly and empathetically. You need someone who’s going to really listen and work with you to create the outcomes you want, not just prescribe you the highest-billed solution.
Things you need from a lawyer:
Exceptional legal skill
Empathy, honesty, and proactive communication
Clear, transparent pricing
Things you don’t need from a lawyer:
A bunch of technical jargon
Radio silence as you sit and wonder what’s going on
The ongoing low-level tension of worrying what your bill is going to be

It’s law for the modern world: clear, creative, and collaborative.
We provide you with the legal expertise you need to protect your legacy so you can live your life confidently, without having to worry about the “what ifs”.
We call it the Merryweather Method.
Most law firms are named after their founders — but we took a different approach, choosing to focus on our clients instead.
The firm name is not based on the founding attorneys, but instead on our vision of the families we are trying to serve.
And so we came up with the Merryweathers: an amalgamation of our best clients, representing those we serve.
Plus, the name Merryweather reminds us of fair weather, prosperity and good fortune, all of which we’re working to create for our clients.

Meet Our Founder
Connie Liu
Connie is the founder of Merryweather Law, as well as the legal tech platform Duet. With 15+ years of experience as a trusts, estates, and tax planning attorney at top international and national firms, she has an exceptional track record in helping first-generation wealth creators plan for a liquidity event, as well as helping multiple generations of a family coordinate their planning.
In 2024, Connie shifted her focus and turned her superpower for simplifying the complex and demystifying the arcane to make the creation of trust agreements more approachable for more families. Her work through Merryweather Law and Duet comes down to one simple mission: better law for everyone.
Our promises
to you:
-
You’ll always know exactly how much something is going to cost before you commit. Merryweather attorneys are no longer burdened with tracking their lives in 6-minute increments, so please go ahead and email that question without worrying about how much it will cost you.
-
We are here to empower you. You deserve to have a full understanding of what’s going on with your assets and your decisions. That’s why we’ll always keep our language as simple as possible. And, if we do have to use legal terminology, we’ll be sure to explain to you what it means.
-
Nobody wants to spend time chasing up emails or calling over and over and over. We’re prompt and proactive with our communication, and we ask that you return the favor.
-
We don’t take on more than we can handle, so you don’t need to worry about your matter falling through any cracks. If we are unable to directly assist you, we will follow up with additional resources.
-
Sometimes people come to a law firm thinking they need a legal solution, when what they really need is a business solution. Or a marriage counselor. Or something else. We have no interest in selling you legal services you don’t need, and we’ll be the first to tell you if we think you should look elsewhere. What’s more, we’ll think outside the box with our suggestions and service. Every situation is different, and nobody knows your situation better than you do. We’ll meet you where you’re at.
-
We created Merryweather on the promise of better law for everyone — and we mean everyone. Our clients. Our attorneys. Everyone who comes into contact with us. That’s why we’ll always interact with you human-to-human, and it’s why we’ll expect the same of you.
